Two Mitchell Democrats Attend Young Democrats Convention
Mitchell County is extremely proud to have had two young democrats participate in the Young Democrats of North Carolina 2009 Spring Convention on March 22, 2009 in Asheville, North Carolina. Matt Grindstaff and Cassie Robinson attended the convention. Jan Thomas Hamilton, President of the Mitchell County Women's Democratic Organization and Anne Castro attended other relevant sessions.
Matt and Cassie received session information including “Campaign Boot Camp & Youth Voter Outreach," "Lobbying 101 and YDNC Legislative Agenda," and "Chapter Building, Event Organizing and Fundraising/Financial Organization.” This information will be instrumental in the continued development and organizational leadership for future Mitchell County Young Democrats Organization.
Highlights of the Convention included featured speakers Anthony Foxx of the Charlotte City Council, North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Lt. Governor Walter Dalton, and Congressman Heath Shuler. The keynote speaker was Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen.
